A deadly climb up Whiteface Mountain

Dear travel diary;

Today I'm made it up Whiteface mountain!  It's 4867 feet up was a gruelling climb for such a little Gnome.  I started up the winding Veteran's Memorial Highway, all the way to the top of the mountain.  It wasn't easy.  I even had a little accident and barely was able to make it to the top.

But don't worry about me...After a little glue, I'll be just fine.

North pole in New York

Dear travel diary;

Today I'm finding it a little chilly here in New York.  It must because I've found the North Pole!  It's full of man made snow, elves and oddly, Christmas music.

I don't think this is the "real" North Pole.

A hamlet

Dear travel diary;

Today I'm visiting the smallest place on the map.  The busy hamlet of Jay sits quietly in the state of New York.

Don't blink, you'll miss it.  I almost did.

Lake Placid

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself checking out the famous Lake Placid, NY.  It's a beautiful little town perched on the edge of a lake.  If you ever saw the movie "Lake Placid" then you'll understand why I was so uneasy to go near the water.  Thankfully I didn't see any giant gnome eating alligators.  But I did see a giant lobster.

Lost in a desert in Arizona

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself lost in the desert in Arizona, somewhere near the Grand Canyon.  The terrain is so dusty and dry.  The flowers in my garden back home would not like this at all!

Along my travels today I came across a real live cowboy.  He even let me sit on his horse!

Grand Canyon, AZ

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself on the edge of the Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA.  I have never felt so small.  The canyon is 6000 feet deep!  It's really hard to imagine how deep that really is when you are only 8 inches tall.  The Colorado river is seen snaking its way through the canyon, cutting it deeply.  If you look carefully, you can see the odd helicopter tour flying throughout the canyon.  It's an interesting view, looking down on a flying helicopter!

I even took a walk on the "Sky Walk" bridge.  It's a cool horseshoe bridge that has a glass floor!

Hoover Dam

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself overlooking one of the great marvels of human ingenuity, the Hoover Dam!  It was once known as the Boulder Dam.  Its a huge concrete structure nestled in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River.  It also straddles the states of Arizona and Nevada.  The neat part is both states have their own time zone.  You can travel in time just by walking from one side of the dam to the other!  Does that mean I'm a dam time traveler?

Seeing something this big makes you feel pretty dam small!

Sincerely Nestor the Gnome.

Madame Tussauds wax museum in Vegas

Dear travel diary:

Today I find myself walking through Madame Tussauds wax museum in Las Vegas, NV, USA.  What an impressive collection of wax figures.  Everyone from politics, movies to sports and music.  Even my favorite, Jenna Jameson and Hue!

Sincerely Nestor the Gnome.
