Pirate Hunting

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself in Port Royal, Jamaica, hunting for pirates!  Port Royal was a major trading port and was frequented by pirate back in the 1600's.  Now, Port Royal is a sleepy fishing village, but the rum is still good.

A heart attack on a plate

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself having a home made doughnut covered by three scoops of ice cream in Port Dover, Ontario, Canada.  This is the best desert ever!  A home made doughnut, covered in chocolate ice cream, topped is another doughnut, more ice cream and finally finished off with another doughnut!

OGM! I think I'm having chest pains.

Peace fountain

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself in Windsor, Ontario, Canada at the peace fountain.  Did you know that the Peace Fountain is the only international floating fountain in the world?  And it can shoot water over 70 feet in the air?

That's pretty high, even for a Gnome!

Packing heat

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself visiting some friends of mine.  They are quite the party gnomes.

Mamma Gnome always warned me about these types of friends.  Maybe she was right!

Gnome auction

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself in a Gnome auction at the Better Gnome and Gardens show in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  Today we are having an auction for charity.  The Senators Foundation helps to promote physical and mental wellness in kids.  It's a great cause that is drawing the attention of the home and garden crowd.

A great charity and seasonal treat that makes you want to tend to the garden.  Now, if the snow would just melt.

A view of vegas

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself in the Eifel tower!  Ah, the Eifel tower in Vegas, not Paris.  But what a view!  But like Paris, it does have a lover's bridge where if you write your lover's name on a lock.  Then lock it to the bridge and toss the key away, it's said that you will be with them forever.

The streets of Vegas seems so peaceful from up here.

Hungary in Winnipeg

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself hungry in the Winnipeg Airport.   So many choices.  Pizza or burgers?   Nope, it's definitely going to be a burger with onion rings!

Not bad way to wait for a plane.   Does anyone else seen the puddle underneath the engine?   Should I be worried?

Fort George

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself exploring the historic Fort George, in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, Canada.  The scarlet red uniforms are very sharp looking.  But life for an 1800's soldier looks a little too rough for me.  I'll stick to the garden.

Wine tour

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself on a wine tour of the Pillitteri Estates winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON.  A wonderful tour, full of free samples and great stories of the Pillitteri heritage.  The Carretto or Sicilian Cart (which is a center piece on both their label and in their showroom) was a preferred method of transportation in Sicily up until the end of the second world war.  The Carretto that is on display is one of four that was passed down through the Pillitteri family.

The wine cellar, the vineyards, the manufacturing, all top notch and worth a trip.  The only concern I have is who's going to drive me home after I sample all this fabulous wine?

Hat shopping in Niagara on the lake

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself wandering around the beautiful little town of niagara on the lake, Ontario, Canada.  Today is the end of the peach festival and the town is out in full force.  Dressed all in white,  the town is hosting an outdoor dinner,  serving all things peach.

The down town shops are wonderful.  Full of little boutiques, including a great hat shop.

The hornblower

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself aboard the hornblower.  A great boat ride under the falls in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The sound of the roaring water is impressive.  The mist spraying on our faces.  What a great experience.

I've never seen the falls from this angle.  It's so big!

Night life in Niagara Falls

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself visiting Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.   An exciting place,  full of things to do.   A walk along the famous Clifton hill is full of museums and horror shops. In fact we even saw one of the haunted houses catch on fire!  Later we saw the hydro electric generation station.  The most impressive was the Brock monument.

In the evening we even watched the fireworks over the falls!

Over the falls

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself visiting the amazing niagara falls in Ontario, Canada.  With a 180 foot drop there is a lot of water flowing over it. The sound of it is breath taking.

With all that rushing water,  it kind of makes me want to pee.

A night at the Military College in Toronto

Dear travel diary;

Today I find myself spending a night on the beautiful campus of the Military College in Toronto, Ontario.   The grounds are as beautiful as the architecture.

Even though there is a wedding being hosted, we are in for a restful night sleep.

Ice cream in Kingston

Dear travel diary;

Today we find ourselves eating ice cream at centennial park in Kingston, Ontario.  And the best part is the local band "the greater unwashed" is playing down town.

A wonderful day while we wait for the bike to be repaired.

A break down in Kingston

Dear travel diary;

Today a terrible thing happened during our ride to Kingston, Ontario.  We had a major break down on the motorcycle!  All the back spokes broke on the rear tire. Thankfully no one was hurt and the bike was able to pull safely to the side of the road.  A quick internet search provided a local repair shop.  The guys from Motor Sport Plus came, picked up the bike and rescued us from the side of the road.

Let's just hope the repairs are completed quickly so we can continue with our trip.
